Uprisings of the World

With the uprising in Egypt many people were killed and far more were injured. The citizens of Egypt tried to overthrow the government because they wanted a more democratic way of governing. Media did influence the uprising because it brought democracy to the citizen’s attention. Watching or reading how other parts of the world were governed gave these citizens the idea that they wanted to live like that as well. So, they rebelled against the government and media fueled to the fire of the uprising.  (Jazeera)

Similar to the uprising that was taking place in Egypt; Syrian citizens felt the same way. They wanted democratic and economic reform within the existing government. It was far bloodier than the Egyptian up rise. Death tolls exceeded 100,000 in just two and a half years. Media definitely had a part in affecting this up rise. Syrian people figured if the people in Egypt took matters in their own hands, why couldn’t they. (“Syrian civil war,” 2013)
